Why I set up Enlighten PR

I want to help people find their voice and confidence in securing publicity for their brand.

Good storytelling isn’t hard but it is a skill.

SME’s and entrepreneurs CAN do it for themselves, they just need to be shown how. That’s where I come in!

If you can tell good stories you can produce content and secure media coverage that will drive your brand awareness. And brand awareness will drive sales.

2020 was one hell of a year for small businesses. I watched many that I loved and had relied on myself over the years suddenly struggling. Some closed down, some had to pivot in to new ways of working and most had to start communicating with their customers in a completely different way.

It was frustrating for me to see so many of them not getting the recognition they deserved and the support they needed.

I’m hoping that in 2021 I can help!

My background is in storytelling, both as a journalist and as a PR. I have produced thousands of pieces of branded content over the years whether that’s getting national newspaper coverage, TV interviews, social media campaigns, video assets or podcasts.

Storytelling is the most effective way of communicating messages to your audiences. It can change behaviour, drive sales and build reputations.

I started out as a reporter for the Essex Chronicle at 21 before moving in to TV and working at Sky News, 5 News and ITV’s This Morning programme. During this time I was freelancing for magazines and national newspapers and decided to make the shift to PR. I then spent three years working at an agency helping some of the UK’s biggest brands secure national media coverage.

For the last 8 years I have been working in-house for a legal business called Slater and Gordon, where I built the media profile of the brand from scratch. It was essentially a start up brand and is now one of the most recognised law firms in the UK. I run a wonderful team of some of the most talented creatives in the industry and we secure 12,000 media mentions a year, win awards, secure TV interviews on the UK’s biggest programmes and last year we launched a podcast.

I know how to get publicity for brands and people.

I know how to target the right audience.

I know how to use social media to amplify your storytelling.

I know how to get your voice heard.

Now I want to share that knowledge. So I am going to launch some bite sized easy to understand webinars, events and blogs.

I want everyone who reads this to believe me when I say that it’s not hard, it just takes time to start thinking differently.
